A man wearing a balaclava mask was taken into custody by police on Saturday, bringing an end to the hostage situation that had unfolded at a nightclub in the eastern Netherlands.
“Just now, the last hostage was set free. An arrest has been made, according to a police statement. “We cannot share more information at this time.”

Reporters on the site reported that a man was arrested and placed in a police car as he exited the nightclub with his hands raised.
According to authorities on social media, special police units had been sent to the area, which was a building in the middle of the town of Ede, to deal with a hostage scenario.
Police had earlier stated that there was no sign of a terrorist motive.
The national newspaper, the Telegraaf, had stated, using many anonymous sources, that a man armed with explosives and guns was holding people hostage at the nightclub.
